Make fruit salsas

Fruit salsas are great with poultry and fish dishes. One of our favourites is diced mango, tomato and cucumber mixed with lime juice and fresh coriander. Amazing!

Get creative with dried fruit

Mix raisins or dried cranberries into rice or couscous. Also try some dried apricots in your next stew. It adds a sweet flavour your kids are sure to love.

Give baked potatoes a hand

Potatoes are very nutritious, especially when eaten with the skin and topped with light options, such as: Low-fat sour cream and salsa Greek yogurt and fresh chives Creamy low-fat dressing…awesome! Greek yogurt, cumin and fresh coriander

Create original potage-type soups

Take a walk on the wild side by trying some of these delicious combinations: squash, apple and celery, maple turnip, parsnip and pear, carrot and ginger, and beet root and pear. Let your imagination be your guide!

Serve salads as side dishes

Greens make a great light side dish for any meal. Try pairing fish with a mixed green salad full of fruit like mango or papaya. Poultry is excellent with greens and fruit, such as apples, strawberries and pears, while red meat is best served with bolder-flavoured greens like arugula, kale and field salad.

Add vroom to your veggies

Variety is not just the spice of life it’s also a great way to add sizzle to your stir-fries. Choose different coloured peppers, shiitake or Portobello mushrooms, and zucchini or yellow squash and get creative with flavour profiles. You can also add lemon zest to roasted asparagus, a little curry paste to sautéed zucchini, or sesame seeds to pan-fried mushrooms to enhance their taste.
